Text Annotations
Add labels, notes, and callouts directly on your map.
What Are Text Annotations?
Text annotations let you place labels directly on the map. Use them to:
- Label areas (e.g., "Main Lot", "Employee Parking")
- Add notes for field crews
- Mark special conditions or hazards
- Identify features in PDF reports
- Call out specific areas of work

Styling Text
When you select a text annotation, a styling toolbar appears below it with these options:

Text Color

Background Color
Add a background color to make text stand out against the satellite imagery. Click "Clear" to remove the background.
Contrast Warning: If your text and background colors have poor contrast, a warning will appear. Choose colors that are easy to read.

Text at Different Zoom Levels
Text annotations adapt to your zoom level:
- Zoomed in (level 18+): Text appears at full size
- Medium zoom (15-17): Text scales slightly
- Zoomed out (below 15): Text fades out to avoid clutter
This automatic behavior keeps the map readable at all zoom levels.
Tips for Text Annotations
Use Backgrounds
White or yellow backgrounds make text visible against any satellite imagery.
Keep It Short
Use brief labels like "Phase 1" or "North Lot". Long text gets cluttered.
Position Thoughtfully
Place text in clear areas, not over measurements or complex imagery.
Think About Reports
Text shows in PDF exports. Use it to help explain the project to clients.
