Getting Started

How do I create my first project?

From the dashboard, click "New Project". Enter a project name (required), optionally add an address and notes, then click "Create Project". You'll be taken to the map view where you can start measuring.

How do I navigate to a specific location?

Use the search bar in the toolbar to type an address or location name. Select from the suggestions and the map will center on that location. You can also click the "Locate Me" button to go to your current GPS location.

Can I try ProPaving before subscribing?

Yes! The home page features an interactive demo where you can draw measurements and see how the tools work. Your drawings won't be saved, but you can explore all the drawing features.

What browsers are supported?

ProPaving works best in modern browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. We recommend Chrome for the best experience. Mobile browsers on iOS and Android are also supported.

Measurements & Drawing

How do I draw an area measurement?

Click the "Draw Area" tool, then click on the map to place points around the perimeter of the area. Double-click to finish the shape. The square footage is calculated automatically.

How do I draw a linear measurement?

Click the "Draw Line" tool, then click to place points along the path. Double-click to finish. Use this for striping, curbing, or any linear feature.

How do I cut out islands or medians?

First, select an existing area measurement. Then click "Cut Out Area" in the toolbar and draw a polygon around the island. The cutout area is automatically subtracted from your total.

Can I edit a measurement after drawing it?

Currently, you can rename measurements, change their color, hide/show them, and lock them. To modify the shape itself, delete it and redraw. Full vertex editing is coming in a future update.

How accurate are the measurements?

Measurements use Turf.js geospatial calculations with Google Maps satellite imagery. Accuracy depends on image quality and how precisely you trace the boundaries. For estimates and proposals, this is typically within 2-5% of ground truth.

Why do I see blurred numbers?

Calculation totals are blurred for non-subscribers. Subscribe to reveal all your measurements, export PDF reports, and save projects.

Auto-Detection

How does auto-detection work?

Click the "Auto-detect" button (sparkle icon) and the system analyzes the satellite imagery in your current view to identify paved areas. It returns the detected boundary with a confidence score. Works best when zoomed to show the parking lot clearly.

Why is the confidence score low?

Low confidence can occur when: the satellite imagery is unclear, there's poor contrast between pavement and surroundings, the area has complex shapes, or the lot has unusual features. Try zooming in more or use manual tracing instead.

Can I edit auto-detected areas?

Yes! After detection, click "Refine" to adjust the vertices before accepting. This lets you fine-tune the boundary. Click "Accept" when you're satisfied.

Why did detection fail?

Detection may fail if: the viewport is too large (zoom in more), there's no clear pavement in view, the service is temporarily unavailable, or you've hit the rate limit. Try again after adjusting your view.

Projects & Saving

Are my measurements saved automatically?

Yes! ProPaving auto-saves your work within 2 seconds of any change. You'll see an "Auto-saving..." indicator. Your map position is also saved so you return to where you left off.

Can I work offline?

No, ProPaving requires an internet connection to load satellite imagery and save your work. Always ensure you have a stable connection before making measurements.

How do I delete a project?

From the Projects page, click the menu on a project card and select "Delete". Confirm the deletion. This action cannot be undone and will remove all measurements in that project.

Can I duplicate a project?

Project duplication is not currently available. You can create a new project and manually recreate the measurements.

Team & Collaboration

How do I invite team members?

Go to Settings > Team, click "Invite Member", enter their email, select a role (Member or Admin), and send the invitation. They'll receive an email with a link to join.

What's the difference between roles?

Owner has full control including billing and company deletion. Admin can manage team and settings but not billing. Member can create and edit projects but cannot manage team or settings.

Can team members see each other's projects?

Yes, all projects are shared within the company. Any team member can view and edit any project. This enables collaboration on bids and proposals.

How do I remove a team member?

Go to Settings > Team, find the member, and click Remove. Only Owners and Admins can remove members. The Owner cannot be removed.

What happens to a member's work if I remove them?

All projects and measurements remain with the company. Removing a member only revokes their access; their work is preserved.

Billing & Subscription

How much does ProPaving cost?

$199 per seat per month. Each seat allows one team member to access the full platform. No hidden fees, no per-project charges.

How do I add or remove seats?

Go to Settings > Billing and click "Manage Subscription". In the Stripe portal, you can update your seat quantity. Adding seats is prorated; reducing seats takes effect at the next billing cycle.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards through Stripe: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to Settings > Billing and click "Manage Subscription". In the Stripe portal, select "Cancel subscription". Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.

Can I get a refund?

We don't offer refunds for partial months. If you cancel, you retain access until your current billing period ends. Contact support@drillerdb.com for special circumstances.

Do you offer discounts for annual billing?

Not currently. We offer simple monthly billing that you can cancel anytime. Contact us for enterprise pricing on large teams.

PDF Reports

How do I export a PDF report?

Open your project and click "Export PDF" in the toolbar or Measurements Panel. The report generates in a few seconds and downloads automatically.

What's included in the PDF report?

Reports include: project name and address, a map screenshot with all measurements visible, itemized list of each measurement with dimensions, category totals, and grand totals.

Why can't I export a PDF?

PDF export requires an active subscription. If you're subscribed and still can't export, try refreshing the page or contact support.

Can I customize the report format?

Not currently. Reports use a standardized professional format. Custom branding and report templates are planned for a future update.

Troubleshooting

The map won't load

Try: 1) Refresh the page, 2) Clear your browser cache, 3) Check your internet connection, 4) Try a different browser. If the issue persists, contact support.

My measurements disappeared

Check if you're logged into the correct account. Measurements are saved per-project, so ensure you're viewing the right project. If auto-save failed due to connection issues, changes may not have been saved.

The satellite imagery looks outdated

Satellite imagery is provided by Google Maps and may be months or years old depending on the location. We don't control when imagery is updated. For critical accuracy, verify against current conditions.

I forgot my password

Click "Forgot password" on the login page and enter your email. You'll receive a reset link. If you don't see the email, check your spam folder.

I can't accept my team invitation

Invitations expire after 7 days. Ask your team admin to resend the invitation. If you already have an account with a different company, you may need to leave that company first.

The page is loading slowly

Large projects with many measurements can take longer to load. Try: reducing the number of visible measurements, closing other browser tabs, or using a faster internet connection.
