Map Toolbar
A complete reference for every button and tool in the ProPaving toolbar.
Drawing Tools
These are your primary tools for creating measurements.
Select / Pan Mode
AorVThe default mode. Click to select measurements, drag to pan the map. Use this when you're not actively drawing to navigate and select items.
Draw Area (Polygon)
PMeasure parking lots, drive lanes, and any paved surfaces. Creates a polygon shape.
- Click to place points around the perimeter
- Minimum 3 points required
- Click first point or press Enter to close
- Shows area (SF) and perimeter (LF)
Draw Line (Linear)
LMeasure striping, curbs, crack sealing, or any linear feature.
- Click two points to create a line
- Auto-completes after second point
- Shows length in linear feet
Cut Out Area
CCreate holes in area measurements for islands, medians, and landscaping.
- Requirement: Select an area first
- Draw a polygon inside the area
- Cutout is subtracted from parent area
- Can add multiple cutouts per area
Measure Distance
RQuick point-to-point distance measurement without saving.
- Click start point (blue marker)
- Click end point (green marker)
- Shows distance in feet and meters
- Option to save as line measurement
Add Text Annotation
TAdd labels and notes directly on the map.
- Click to place text
- Type content, press Enter to save
- Press Escape to cancel
- Supports styling (size, color, bold)
AI & Detection
Auto-Detect Paved Area
AI-powered boundary detection. Analyzes the current viewport and automatically traces paved areas.
- Position map to show the area you want
- Click the sparkle button
- Wait 10-15 seconds for analysis
- Accept, Refine, or Reject the result
Requires subscription. Best results at zoom level 18-19 with clear imagery.
Edit Actions
Tools for modifying and managing your measurements.
Undo
Ctrl+ZReverse the last action. Works for drawing, editing, and deleting.
Redo
Ctrl+Shift+ZReapply an action you just undid.
Delete Selected
DeleteRemove selected measurement(s). Shows confirmation dialog.
Clear All
Remove all measurements from the project. Use with caution!
Duplicate
Ctrl+DCreate a copy of the selected measurement. Single selection only.
Keyboard Shortcuts
?Opens a dialog showing all available keyboard shortcuts.
Drawing Controls
When you're actively drawing, additional controls appear in the toolbar:
Point Counter
Shows how many points you've placed. Also indicates if you need more points (e.g., "Need 1 more" for polygons).
Finish Button
Complete the current drawing when minimum points are placed. Same as pressing Enter or clicking the first point.
Cancel Button
Discard the current drawing and return to select mode. Same as pressing Escape.
